Optician Volunteers Needed In Jamaica!

Stay at Sandals Resort

Use your talents to bestow the gift of sight to thousands of Jamaicans and change their lives forever. Join us this fall on the iCare vision project!

Jamaica is known for its stunning beaches, lush resorts, and of course reggae music... plenty of goodness. But there is also great need. There are no optometrists and only two public health ophthalmologists for over ½ million people. The cost of a pair of glasses is over a month's pay for the average Jamaican.

The Solution: Great Shape! Inc.'s iCare vision project.  Volunteers serve about 3,000 people each year.  iCare teams provide eye exams, surgery referrals and thousands of eyeglasses, readers, and sunglasses.

Volunteers Needed

Optometrists, Opticians, Ophthalmologists, Students, and all kinds of other professions. iCare welcomes anyone with a heart for service!

Cost: volunteers pay a $700 project fee ($650 for VOSH members) plus airfare. The Sandals Foundation provides transportation in country, meals and accommodations. Individual fundraising opportunities available!

2011 Project Dates:

Montego Bay - Week 1: Oct. 7 to Oct. 17

OR

Ocho Rios -    Week 2: Oct. 14 to Oct. 24

iCare is facilitated by Great Shape! Inc. in partnership with VOSH, LERC, Sandals Resorts International, Sandals Foundation, and the Jamaican Ministry of Health.
