ABO/NCLE Basic Certification Exam Review - Online

Professional Opticians of Florida have partnered with WINK Productions to offer a new on-line program developed to review the fundamentals needed to assist you in the preparation for the American Board of Opticianry (ABO) and the National Contact Lens Examiners (NCLE) basic certification examinations required  for licensure in Florida. 

 Each virtual lesson consists of full color interactive slides, audio with detailed  notes and a post lesson quiz. Each ABO and NCLE exam review program includes:  Online access for 3 months to 5+ hours of high quality training, a 10 question quiz  at the end of each lesson to ensure that you understood the lesson, plus 100  practice exam sample questions.

ABO/NCLE Basic Certification Exam Review - Live

POF, in conjunction with the National Federation of Opticianry Schools (NFOS), is pleased to offer ABO and NCLE live Exam Prep Courses. These live ABO/NCLE basic certification exam preps are 6 hours each and are conducted by full time Opticianry program instructors that will review the exam materials and assist you in your exam preparations. Instructors will answer your questions and help you prepare by studying appropriate materials in advance of your exam.

ABO/NCLE Basic Certification Exam Review - Webinar Series

Professional Opticians of Florida is excited to announce our upcoming ABO / NCLE Exam Review Webinar Series. This webinar series will cover the core areas of knowledge needed to assist in preparation for the ABO / NCLE Examinations.  This webinar series consists of (6) six (2) two-hour sessions!

This webinar series is easily accessible on your laptop or tablet and allows for interaction between attendees and your instructor.

Important Florida Licensing Requirements

Additional Requirements to become a Licensed Optician in Florida

To Become Eligible the initial licensure you must complete following requirements;

◊ Successful completion of all parts of the examination for Florida licensure;

◊ The original certificate documenting successful completion of a two-hour laws and rules course by a Board approved laws and rules course provider;

◊ Copy of certificate documenting successful completion of a two-hour continuing education course relating to the prevention of medical errors. The course must be approved by the Board and shall include a study of root-cause analysis, error reduction and prevention, and patient safety;

◊ Copy of certificate documenting successful completion of a two-hour live technical practice continuing education course on fitting and adjusting by a Board approved provider;

◊ No discovery of disqualifying factors prior to licensure;

◊ Payment of the initial licensure fee within one (1) year of notification of successful passage of the examination for Florida licensure;  and

◊ Completion of Initial Licensure Form,

All licensees are responsible for knowing the laws and rules that regulate their profession. The laws in Chapter 484,Part I, Florida Statutes (F.S.), are directly related to the profession of Opticianry, and Chapter 456, F.S., governs all health care professions licensed by the Department of Health. Rule Chapter 64B12, Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.), are the rules that govern the profession of Opticianry.
