A comprehensive 20-hour program covering state-of-the-art contact lens technologies and fitting techniques, presented by the Professional Opticians of Florida (POF).

Become a Florida Board-Certified Optician

Earn the required 20 hours of training needed for Florida State Board of Opticianry certification. This course fulfills the educational requirement allowing Florida opticians to fit, adapt, and dispense contact lenses without prescriber supervision, in accordance with Florida Statute 484.002(6).

This program includes lecture, case review, and hands-on instruction covering:

• Ocular anatomy and physiology
• Indications and contraindications for contact lens wear
• Recognition of abnormal responses to contact lenses
• Soft and rigid contact lens design fundamentals
• Contact lens fitting and follow-up care
• Fluorescein pattern identification
• Specialty contact lens designs and fittings
• Clinical fitting case reviews
• 4-hour hands-on workshop using slit lamps and keratometers
